The header files define structures and constants that are needed for building most standard programs. This package also includes the C header files for the Linux kernel. If you are developing programs which will use the standard C libraries, your system needs to have these standard header and object files available in order to create the executables. System Arch RPM resource glibc-devel The glibc-devel package contains the header and object files necessary for developing programs which use the standard C libraries (which are used by nearly all programs). The System and Arch are optional added filters, for example System could be 'redhat', 'redhat-7.2', 'mandrake' or 'gnome', Arch could be 'i386' or 'src', etc.ĭepending on your system.
